VFW 2019 Film Review:
Love siege movies. This one is a clear tribute to Carpenter + the gore. It even features a Carpenter like ostinato synth music at the start which establishes the menacing mood as in Assault On Precinct 13. Still.The cast is sweet but their performance is shaky. Lang, quite anyone, is that the weakest. The guy who plays the ranger is additionally bad. The mood is additionally destroyed by some mediocre continuity. One moment an expensive friend of theirs dies and therefore the next they’re all laughing and delivering tacky lines. At now within the movie, the music turns into obnoxious generic sounds. While the gore is there, the dark images prevent us from seeing it and enjoying it (a recourse to cover low budget effects maybe?). Still, it’s fun to observe, the good William Sadler is in it, and it is a great (although poorly executed) Carpenter tribute.
There’s an air of mystery surrounding VFWs. it is a pretty similar feeling to other men clubs just like the Royal Order of the Moose, The Oddfellows, and my favorite, The Stonecutters. VFWs on the other hand are jam-full of war vets. I’m pretty sure women are allowed at VFWs and more often than not most of the general public is so they are not too exclusive on the group front but what do I do know.
