This film focuses on two main characters who are Julie Powell, a young writer in New York, and Julia Child, a chef, and author of Mastering the Art of French Cooking in Paris.
In the story, Julie is living in New York City and doesn’t like her job working in a call center. One day, she found a French cooking book and decided to cook every recipe out of it. To motivate herself, she even started to write a blog to share her progress. She is hoping someone will read her blog one day. Julia, who lives in Paris, was an ordinary housewife.
To spend her time, she tries to learn French and take some cooking classes. After mastering French cooking, she started cooperating with her friends on publishing a French cookbook for American housewives.
Throughout the film, I found that the theme is all about French cooking and women’s challenges. They found the joy of cooking and have marriage support in their self-challenge.
This film reminds me of the other comedy film, Chef. That film is about a chef who quits his restaurant job and runs a food truck with his menu.
From the very beginning scene, it was started in Paris around the 1950s. The whole film is about Julie, who lives in the present, shadowing Julia Child in the past.
In my opinion, this story theme is about how a woman succeeds with their marriage support. A woman has to give up a lot to find what she loves to do. No doubt, every hardship cannot be solved without family support. As a woman myself, I feel like they are my role model in my career. I think I fell in love with this film!
