After enjoying a summer romance, high school students Danny and Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High. There Sandy must contend with cynical Rizzo and the Pink Ladies in an attempt to win Danny’s heart again.
Nearly four decades after Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson’s delicious youthful romance in legendary Grease (1978), Grease Live breathes new life into everyone’s favorite teenage love affair; however, with a twist: the addition of a live audience. Once more, against the colorful backdrop of the iconic late-1950s Rydell High, the riotous gang of greasers, the T-Birds, and Betty Rizzo’s delightfully sassy posse, the Pink Ladies, battle for attention, thirsting to become the coolest teams in school. Undoubtedly, this is going to be yet another year filled with passion, innocence, dance, affection, and teen energy, as the students set their minds on excelling in the much-awaited live dance contest. On this high school graduation day, GREASE is still the word.
Review of Grease 3 Live! 2016:
Grease (franchise) I liked the diversity firstly. Well done. The guy playing Danny is not a good actor, and he looks about 40 years old. I know this is life, but it felt rushed and forced. Almost like they were just saying the words from the original film but not actually acting. And I love Keke Palmer, she’s so funny usually, but she overacted this part. Marty is supposed to be a ditzy character, but that didn’t come across here. Almost like she was playing someone completely different. Julianne Hough is actually a better Sandy than Olivia, sorry to say. Some of the extras added were great, some unnecessary. I loved the Sandy cheerleading tryout scene. However, they shouldn’t have added so much extra if they were pressed for time. The dance sequences were fantastic, I must say. So, a really good remake, however, had it not been a live show, would have been twice as good.
