Snakes 2018 Movie – Storyline:
During World War II, Japanese soldiers come across a huge size snake in the jungle on an uninhabited island.
In 2018, a Chinese cancer research group together with Lin Qi, an elementary school teacher and author of an Encyclopedia on Prehistoric Animals, travel to the same island, now nicknamed ‘Resurrection Island’ to search for an important cadmium-filled plant, “the fruit of life, blood-sucking begonias”.
Beyond a fog barrier that lies around the remote island, they encounter vicious flying butterfish, exploding bomb fruits, glass fireflies, a giant man-eating plant (which looks like Audrey from The Little Shop of Horrors) and monster snakes…
Snakes Full Movie Review:
2020 has been a weird year and why not start this weird year with the weirdest movie I have ever seen from China. After 2014 China has become chollywood with an American style of movies with a lot of sci-fi, horror and action stuff plus poor CGI effects that belong to a Syfy channel. Snake is one of the new Chinese movie-style released in 2018 after the Asura area.
During the 1940s war, a Japanese military group find something large size a snake in the jungle. Fast forward to 2018, a Chinese hunter group together with a snake expert arrives in the same jungle to discover an important plant, only to find out the unusual large-sized snake is still alive and hunting down the hunters.
It sounds exciting on the paper but it’s sillier and overdone. Especially with some comic relief characters that take away the scary feeling. But apart from the silliness and the CGI effect, it’s entertaining. It was one of those movies that one called so bad it is good, like the room but with a giant snake. 5/10.
